Porcelain Water Bottle

This was the first project initiated and handled by me since I joined Dankotuwa Porcelain in May 2019. It was critical to understand the limits of the material and the production process. The product is ready to launch on Dec 219.

Young generations awareness of environment and material effects on health increase day by day. As a result young office working generation have started concerning about their office water bottle more.Previous use of plastic bottles is fading away and the market gap is opening rapidly. Dankotuwa porcelain intends to fill this market gap with a locally manufactured porcelain bottle.

The design contains a timeless and a universal design language and uses the combination of wood and ceramic to its advantage to communicate a more luxurious experience to the user. The material usage and the production wastage were especially concerned when designing the body shape, and it has greatly help to maintain a low cost and to create a more affordable luxury for the working class. Additionally, multiple surface options such as color glazes, decals and embosses will make an endless range of options for the user.

Usage

The bottle is specially designed for modern office spaces where consumers can get water from the water dispenser at office and to keep on the work desk. The beautiful and elegant designs will add a uniqueness to the entire work desk.

Due to the non-reactive quality of the material it is possible to acidic juices in this bottle. And beverages from 5˚C to 99˚C can be stored. The bottle can be opened by pulling the lid away from the bottle. The bottle can be closed by pressing down the lid in to the bottle.

When the bottle is new the lid can be pressed outward by the air pressure inside the bottle and when bottle is filled with hot water the low air pressure inside the bottle might result in difficulty to remove the lid. In these specific conditions slightly press the lid to the side to balance the air pressure inside the bottle with outside environment to easily open the bottle.

The lid contains a sensor which detects the amount of water in the bottle in real time and will calculate the amount of water drunk by the consumer daily. The limit can be pre-set using a mobile app and the bottle will alert the user to drink water in pre-determined interval or when haven’t drunk in a while.

The electronic part is not visible to the outside. With the development of technology every product will become smart and as a result the appearance of the products will become more futuristic. The design language of this design will retain the classic appearance of porcelain and will resemble the identity of the brand without being left behind tech wise.
